Through KJ McDaniels’ (F) stellar performance with 37 points and 11 rebounds, Pelita Jaya snatched the top spot of the league after a 103–98 win against Dewa United at their home.

Despite the absence of two key players from Pelita Jaya, Anthony Beane Jr. (G) and Thomas Robinson (C), the long-awaited duel between the two giants did not disappoint. The game started strong with both teams exchanging quick buckets, ending the first quarter with a 22–19 lead for the home team. But it was Gelvis Solano (G) who was the difference maker in the first half, showing an incredible array of skills, hitting all kinds of tough shots to increase the lead to as many as 17 points. The amazing effort of Agassi Goantara (G) was not enough to slow down the Dominican Republic guard, as he was simply left on an island against the quicker and bigger player.

After ending the half with a 57–44 lead, Dewa United slipped. The defensive adjustment from Coach Johanis Winar and the team managed to get them stops and turn defense into easy baskets on offense. The disparity in points distributions were shown through 22 assists that they had, with the Filipino hero Justin Brownlee (F) dishing out 9 for himself along with 22 points and 16 rebounds.

On the other side, Gelvis Solano and Jordan Adams were leading the team with 34 and 31 points each. The team fell short to close out the game as they were lacking help from the others, having only Tavario Miller contributing double digit points.

“It was a great win… but we gotta stay humble.” expressed the Player of the Game KJ McDaniels.

Pelita Jaya now moved to first in standings with 13–1, followed by Dewa United with 12–1. Both teams have another game coming up tomorrow. Dewa will host the fan-favorite Rans Simba at their home, while PJ are having a Jakarta Derby against Amartha Hangtuah.
